sitting under the willow tree in the sun. making pasta. the little raindrops on the roses outside the church. the feeling of finishing a good book. the sun pouring in through the windows while working at a cafe. watching people on the train read newspapers, do crosswords, and write in their diaries. surprising a colleague with cake and singing happy birthday to them. sitting by the water with a friend talking. mint chocolate ice cream. a boat called nostalgia. crispy vegetable spring rolls. the orange evening sun. sitting on benches watching the world go by.
a beautiful sunrise. seeing the herds of sheep on a morning as the train passes over the viaducts. eating my cinnamon bun in the morning sun. walking around the town as it wakes up. a pistachio-scented perfume. a street lined with lanterns and fairy lights. people setting up their market stalls. picking the syrups for the man who orders coffee with two mystery syrups and tries to guess them. the smell of end-of-summer flowers and wet leaves. the company of a robin. finding an old bookstore. a double rainbow. evening train station clarity.
a sunday afternoon by the lake reading. cute bench dedications. watching the ducks and swans. matching pyjama sets. holding a warm mug of tea. golden evening light. cooking with my family. night drives. seeing lovely encounters between people while waiting for a friend at the train station. the way people use anything as a bookmark. a good matcha latte. the harvest moon. face-timing a friend and catching up. the slow comfort of staying at my grandma’s. waking up and smelling the incense and hearing her bangles. a heart on a chapatti. talking about the most mundane things over tea. always feeling sleepy.
wandering around sunny london. seeing a new van gogh exhibition. walking around the gallery and seeing some of my favourite paintings. watching groups of children sketch. soft sounds of street musicians. strolling around notting hill, its antique market, vintage boutiques, and pastel-coloured houses. getting the tube to pretty areas. a flower stall with roses, hydrangeas, peonies, lilies and lilacs. a street of bookshops and galleries with victorian shopfronts. visiting a bookbarge. watching the last summer sunset while drinking my caramel matcha latte in the company of a gentle september evening breeze. the feeling of being exhausted on the train home after a long day.
autumn equinox. gaps of sunlight from between the trees creating shadows in the grass. the first hot chocolate of the season. the man in the car who let me cross the road when it was raining and busy. a cafe counter full of pastries and filled croissants. a heart on my coffee. pocket sudoku. an old friend messaging me because she found a note i left her in her pencil case years ago. the comforting smell of lemon green tea. watching a man take a selfie on the train. laughing with my friend in the library. showering after walking home in the rain. a fig body scrub. watching a kdrama in bed.
