laughter on a summer evening. the little things. a kind message. telling my mum i was craving a certain dish and her making it the next day. showering at night and getting into fresh sheets. dark blue light from my window as i try to sleep.
early morning train journeys with the sun on my face. sitting in my usual spot at my local coffee shop. feeling grateful for the people in my life. the greenness of summer. rays of golden sunlight coming through the blinds.
the sound of birds tweeting on a morning. knowing i will be okay despite things feeling bleak. becoming mindful of how i accept love as well as how i put it out. sitting on a bench drinking coffee and seeing old people holding hands in the park.
the radiance of the full moon. feeding my dad strawberries. reaching out for help and trying to be comfortable with being vulnerable. starting to outgrow the deep shame and embarrassment woven into my existence. crying out of happiness. watching the colours of the sunset. putting love out despite.
exams finishing on the first day of summer. buying myself flowers and walking to my favourite place. butterflies following me. kind smiles from strangers. feeling like myself again after a while. the bittersweet feeling of endings and doing things with people for the last time.
waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the moon and instantly being comforted. wanting to do the most mundane things with someone. the tenderness of dawn. the smell of hot garlic bread from the oven.
spending summer mornings reading in bed after breakfast. eating fresh seasonal fruit. morning yoga and dancing in the kitchen while making food. a cat following me on my walk. making friends at the library. someone telling me they were thinking of me on a day i wasn’t feeling good. the feeling that this will pass.
sipping on my coffee in the nearly empty coffee shop on a quiet afternoon. running errands at my own pace and bringing home food for my mum. falling asleep to the sound of rain on the roof at night.
knowing i am loved despite.
