a flowering magnolia tree. iftar at my grandma’s. fresh fruit. a quran that has been in the family since the eighties. baking with my sister. my mum getting me my favourite tulips. eid at my grandma’s. a trip to the drive-thru. fresh baklava. the crescent moon. my sister getting me some cute strawberry earrings. secret eidi, takeout, and card games. matching heart pajamas. escaping the rain into a japanese tea house. a beautiful rainbow.
blossom season. seeing a friend after a few months. french toast in a marquee full of art. trips to bookshops and antique stores. seeing heart shapes everywhere. sitting on a bench talking by red, orange, pink, and yellow tulips. wandering around an art gallery and drinking tea by the river. a cat following me home. the moon at dusk. rose tea. second-hand books with annotations from previous owners. a pomegranate and shea butter body scrub.
the brightest sunshine spilling through the window after the most relentless rain throughout the early hours of the morning. walking around the gardens to see all the rare spring blooms. poet’s narcissus, red spider lilies, peonies, viburnum, bluebells, pasque flower, honesty. the view from the train window — the green in the fields, the deep blue of the sky. catching up with a friend over brunch. an evening walk in the park. reading under the blossom trees. a cafe with stained glass windows and an abundance of plants, trinkets, and art.
a morning reading by the river. cute bench dedications. the water glittering under the sun. helping with productions for a shakespeare festival. evening walks under the sun. pizza with a friend. browsing a book and plant boat at the docks. sitting by the water with hot chocolates and an almond croissant. a little free library. looking around cute little shops. the way a blue sky brightens the ground after it has rained. the most delicious ramen. the healing power of friendship.
a morning bakery run. a heart on my coffee. sitting by the river under the sun. watching the boats and ducks pass, and the water rippling. walking the city walls. a cinema with cosy sofas and plants. a carrot and orange cake. doing things i’d been putting off for a while, listening to my body when it needs to rest, planning things to look forward to, and knowing i have time and will make a beautiful life for myself regardless.
what a joy to be alive <3
